About the ChipThis listing is for a NEC D8748 8-bit microprocessor with EPROM. NEC chips is a clone of the Intel 8748. The chip had 64KB of RAM and 1KB of EPROM. The body is white ceramic, the lid/cap is gold and quartz, and the 40-leads are gold. The chip is in excellent condition (see pictures). This chip would make a great addition to your microprocessor collection. About the Intel 8048The Intel 8048, also known as the MCS-48, was the original member of the 8048 family. The 8048 has some of the most confusing numbering systems of any Intel line. The members include the 8020, 8021, 8022, 8048/35 & 8748, 8049/39 & 8749, and 8050/40.
